Interesting SharePoint in Higher Education document

An interesting report entitled: Investigation into the use of Microsoft SharePoint in Higher Education Institutions has been published as part of a project funded by Eduserv. It describes two types of SharePoint implementations: 'Organic' and 'Corporate'. It also considers drivers, critical success factors and SharePoint as a VLE.

Do take a look at the 2-page Executive Summary -

Indeed useful background. One thing I would add that I often see with HE is the need to tolerate/embrace other systems. Someone will be using something that overlaps with SahrePoint, or soon will. Even if the institution wants everyone to use it as a standard, someone will object or have already started using something else. Banning that with an iron fist is rarely an option in education.
